Having fun with my short vacation

It is a blessing to have friends around you. I was invited by a friend to have a short vacation near the beach area. Oh!! wow, I was happy when she told me we can stay for a week there. We are looking forward to be on the beach right when we get there but sad to say that on our first day, the sky was so dark and was showering, well, not a good day to go to the beach so we end up shopping. We went to different consignment stores and other places where we can find good deals of things we want to add to our collection. They don't have big malls over there which is good because we don't have lots of money to buy in that expensive stuff in the mall and besides, our purpose is to go to the beach not to shop but because of the weather, we just go around to see the place. Well, the weather did not cooperate again on the second day, so, we've decided to go to airlie Garden. Wow!! that's a wonderful place, 67 acres garden, with ponds, birds, plants of different kinds, butterflies, and art designs. We walk around the garden for about 2 hours taking pictures and all that. We are so tired but it was fun. Finally, on our second to the last days of stay in the area, we went to the beach. It was so amazing. I find it very different from where I come from. I mean, in my country, beaches are nice too but we have small cottages right at the beach to where you can put your food and other things you bring to the beach but there? oh!! my nothing at all. The beach was full of people just lying on the sand, some brought their little umbrella, small tents and their folding chair so that they can sit comfortably under the sun. Wow!! most of them brought their reading materials and read. Some families who have kids brought their balls and other things that their kids can play. It was fun to watch these people in their different activities. Most of them were not bringing food because they were renting on those beach houses, apartments, and condo in the beach area. That's what we don't have in our beach area in my country, except maybe in a big commercial beaches. In our place, beaches are exclusively owned by somebody, there is a specific place where people claimed it theirs but in America, the beach is for everybody. There are people who owned beach houses and they have it rented for those who want to have vacation on the beach but the beach has no restrictions of who owns it. Wow!! It was fun!! but unfortunately swimming was not fun when we were there because the waves were so big and strong, these can knock you down. Only very few went to swim and surrendered in a few minutes because of the waves, but it was fun. we stayed there for about 6 hours then we went home and swim in the pool for about 2 hours. Feels so relaxing. How I wish I can come back someday.

Can't Stand with the cold

It is really cold in our place now. No snow whatsoever but men, I can't stand with the cold. I really love to see snow once in a while but for this winter, we never experience snow but the cold is so unbearable for me. I am not used to the cold like this because I was born and raise in a tropical country where we seldom wear coats in a year. We only have rain and chilly breeze on December in my country and for the rest of the months it is pretty much hot and humid. Even if I am living in another country now, I still can not adjust to the coldness I never have experience in my childhood.
Lots of people in my country, are wishing to come to a place where there is snow for they only see snow in the movie. They love to experience wearing thick jackets with fur and boots too. They thought that wearing gloves on winter days are really cute. Huh!! without realizing how uncomfortable we are who are in that situation. For me, I don't like to wear gloves but because of the cold, I have to do it or else I will be frozen in the cold. I can't wait for spring. I now keep on counting the days where it will be warm again.

My precious grandmother is getting up there in years. While she is still fully lucid, and definitely not in anyway incapable, she is getting a little slower and a little more likely to take a spill. We had a very scary situation a few months back when she was pulling weeds in the yard and took a tumble down her hill. She broke her ankle and rolled for a bit before a neighbor spotted her and luckily ran over to help. While she lives close enough that we can take a day trip to see her, she is still a couple hours away, so getting there in good time if there was an emergency would be difficult. We worry about her going up and down the stairs inside, where there would be no one to see her fall. This is where her adt Seattle alarm comes in. One of the new features offered is a two-way voice link with the alarm monitoring company that can call for help immediately if there is an emergency. It helps my mom and I sleep better at night, and it's definitely worth the couple of dollars a month we spend on it.

Street Demonstrations

Street demonstration is not the solution to the problem instead it makes the problem worst. Why people don't understand that they can not change anything if they will make another problem? Look at the people in Wall Street in New York City. They have been there for a month already but did any change happen? nothing at all. Well, it's not shocking to me if I hear anything like that because demonstration always happen in my country. What I don't like with this is that, it won't do anything to solve the problem. They are just giving additional stress to the people around them who are trying their best to make money for a living. These people who are doing this demonstrations are just a disturbance to the community. It will not help anybody to earn money to feed their family and pay their bills. What a waste of time.

I just wish that these people would realize that the time they put in to do the demonstration is precious, they could have use it to find something to benefit their family. What a shame.

A wish comes True

I did post here few months ago about my frustrations of not getting the job I applied for. I know I can do the job and I am qualified than the ones they hired because I have the degree while the one they hired,,,,, well I don't know if she has the degree for that position. It took me several days to get over my frustrations and aggravation but I said to myself, "someday they will be the one to call me even if I don't apply because they will need my service" those are just wishes with the hope that it will come true. From that time on... I forget all about it and I busy myself with other things.

One day, I received a call from them asking me if I am interested for another position opened in their institution. Well, the job opening is not in my line of expertise, so I decline immediately because I don't want to give them false hopes that I can do the job even if I have no experience in that area. I don't care if I have no work, I don't want to experiment doing things that I have no idea of how to do it for the sake of having a job.

After a year, they call me again for another job offer, well, I prayed about it because I love that kind of job. After days of prayer, I got the job. They hired me without any interview or whatsoever. What I can say is that, your wish will come true if God will permit it to happen.
I never send any application to them anymore, I just did once and when they did not call me instead they hired another person, I opted not to send any application anymore. What is aggravating in this situation is that I work with them for 3 years as volunteer, then when there's a job opening instead of hiring me,,,,, because they know me well enough due to my volunteering, they hire someone who never volunteer to work with them, and is new to the area for she come from another place and just new to the area. That's what pissed me off. But anyway, my wish comes true and that is the most wonderful thing that had happened.
